Dutch designer Christien Meindertsma pursues projects that look behind the scenes of modern industrial production, exploring the themes of sustainability, material research, and product life cycles with a poetic eye. In her book »PIG 05049« (2007), she documented how many products are derived from the various parts of a single pig. Her Flax Chair (2015) is a minimalist, yet elegant piece of furniture made of an innovative material based on flax fibres. The exhibition presents Meindertsma’s most important works and new research projects. It shows how designers maintain a critical view of the man-made environment and create novel and surprising everyday objects.
