David Peterson shows the close connections between design, language and communication. Peterson has done work for the science fiction series »Defiance« and the series »Game of Thrones«, for which he devised the Dothraki language. The art of inventing languages fascinates linguists as well as authors, artists and creative professionals. Wellknown examples are the Elvish languages invented by J. R. R. Tolkien for »The Lord of the Rings«, or the Klingon language from »Star Trek«. Alexander Girard also devised various languages for his imaginary country, the »Republic of Fife«. In his presentation, Peterson will give an insight into the process of developing a brand-new language. Free admission, registration: events@design-museum.de
